Feisty, rowdy and relentless, “Machine Boys” homes in on the social construct of patriarchy and masculinity in Nigeria, highlighting the physical ability, appearance and prowess of the men featured.

Shot in Lagos, Nigeria, “Machine Boys” profiles a group of guys riding commercial mopeds, also known as “Okada”. “Machine Boys” references the Zeitgeist and cultural temperament of Nigeria’s street culture.  Okada drivers were recently banned in Lagos due to recklessness, but these drivers defy the law in order to make a living.
